SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 2 Oct, 2017 – David Orban became advisor to Neuromation.io, a distributed synthetic data platform for deep learning applications. The Neuromation Platform will push the limits of the use of synthetic data, by proposing a solution in which perfect labelling is guaranteed by construction: the artificial synthesis of large datasets along with perfectly accurate labels.

Deep learning and knowledge mining employ artificial neural networks of extremely large capacitance and require highly accurate labelling. Collecting large datasets of images, text and sound is easy, but describing and annotating data to make it usable has traditionally been challenging and costly. Crowdsourcing was applied to the problem of dataset creation and labelling a few years ago, employing large numbers of humans to correct mistakes and improve accuracy. It proved slow, expensive and introduced human bias. Besides, there were tasks that humans simply could not perform well, such as estimating distances between objects, quantifying lighting in a scene, accurately translating text, and so on.

Recovery itself is a dynamic process that makes demands of the patient in terms of coping strategies, and it can be stressful. Long-term treatment can better break the cycle of dependence, as it provides a positive space, full of resources to stay sober for an extended period of time. Without any distractions or outside interferences, the patient can better focus on their recovery and sobriety. A long-term treatment provides an extended period of rest and care that may be necessary to restore the patient to full health. Drug abuse and addiction can disrupt many aspects of an individual’s life; which is why treatment is not simple. Effective treatment programs incorporate many components. Some goals of treatment include strengthening self-confidence and coping skills, improving life satisfaction, connecting the patient to proactive activities such as 12-Step programs, and fortifying supportive relationships with family and friends. Patients normally need long-term care to achieve their ultimate goal of sobriety and recovery of their lives. The necessary changes in lifestyle for sober living, such as mentioned above, require time to solidify. Overcoming the consequences of addiction and alcoholism requires constant vigilance and awareness. Long-term treatment is the most effective in ensuring successful recovery.
